About Boise - Where You Would Live and Work
Temperatures range from 80-100 degrees in the hottest summer months and 20-35 degrees
in the coldest winter months. Each season boasts great activities for individuals and
families. In warmer weather, residents enjoy walks or bike rides along the "greenbelt",
a 25-mile path along the beautiful Boise River that runs through the entire city and a
large network of parks. While enjoying the greenbelt, residents can stop at the Anne
Frank Human Rights Memorial, the only memorial of its kind in the country, which truly
exemplifies the value that our community places on diversity and inclusiveness. Some
Boiseans spend hot summer days floating the river in rafts or tubes. There are also
great hiking, camping, fishing and hunting opportunities in and around the Boise area. In
addition, residents enjoy attending the annual Gene Harris Jazz Festival and the Boise
River Festival. All summer long, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival comes alive in a
beautiful outdoor amphitheater where attendees enjoy picnic dinners and Shakespeare
productions under the stars. During the warmer seasons, families have a great time at
Roaring Springs Water Park and the Birds of Prey Nature Center. In the colder months,
residents enjoy skiing at Bogus Basin ski resort, only 30 minutes away. Skiers also
have the luxury of planning a weekend at the world-class Sun Valley ski resort, which
is just 2 and-a-half hours from Boise. There are a number of other great skiing resorts
within a 2-3 hour driving radius. Of course, there are plenty of residents who don’t
ski. It's just as fun to take the kids into the backyard and make a snowman or snow
angel, have a snowball fight or find a hill and a sled for great winter fun!
Whether it's the vibrant cultural and recreational opportunities, the friendly people
or the mild climate, Boise and the surrounding communities afford a quality of life
second to none. Good jobs, affordable housing and a safe, clean and vibrant downtown
all add up to a great place to live!
